To all those who have tried Wordpress Themed Categories and ended up being disappointed because it doesn’t work – I’m proud to tell you that I finally found time to rewrite the plugin and make it work in Wordpress 2.6.

Enter the world of GYS Themed Categories 2.0 – the offspring of Wordpress Themed Categories.

Just like Wordpress Themed Categories, the GYS version allows you to assign themes for each of your Wordpress categories. The only difference is that it works and the GYS brand name.

This plugin works with Wordpress 2.3.3 and Wordpress 2.5

I’ve been very very very busy lately and it’s only now that I’ve found time to update one of my favorite plugins – one that’s being used by quite a bunch of people already. After Wordpress upgraded from older versions to the new ones, my plugin started to show bugs and stopped working properly. Lots of comments came in re errors and stuff like “it’s not working” and I really meant to fix the plugin but I wasn’t able to – my sincerest apologies.

Now, I’m happy to tell you that the plugin is finally updated and from the old v0.1b it’s now version 1.0.

Greetings to all earthlings I finally had the chance to create a new Wordpress theme. I call it Stormy Skies. It’s the current theme being used right now in this blog (as of March 16, 2008) but I’ll still put a screenshot below just in case you come across this blog and I already decided to change the theme.

UPDATE!!! Please use GYS Themed Categories 2.0 instead of this one. It does the same job, written by the same guy (myself) but this time it works.

This plugin works with Wordpress 2.3.3 and Wordpress 2.5

Update: After a long time, I finaly had the chance to update and fix the bugs in the plugin. From v0.1b, I can now say that it’s a true v1.0. This should work with the latest versions of Wordpress now. Just overwrite themed-categories.php with the latest version and you’re all set.

2008-04-24: Fixed the redirect bug. Plugin no longer needs to redirect now.

Introduction
I had to create my first wordpress plugin due to necessity. One of my clients require that he be able to assign different themes for each category. I have seen this feature in the Wordpress Subdomain Plugin but I can’t use it as is since my client doesn’t want his categories to be subdomains. I looked at the code of said plugin and said to myself, “heck, this is easy.”

Inspired by the subdomain plugin, I decided to write my own plugin learning from both actual code and the wordpress plugin API. In approximately 4 hours, I was able to come up with my very first Wordpress Plugin and I love it! Hehehe.

Introducing, the Themed Categories Plugin. It’s in its early stages so I will be glad if any of you can help me improve it. With it, you can assign different themes to each of your wordpress categories.

How to Install
To install it, just download the file, unzip it to your wordpress plugins folder and activate it.

How to Use
To use it, simply go to Manage->Categories, edit the category you wish to assign a theme to, select the theme from the “Select category themed” dropdown, and save it.

Disclaimer
Lastly, I haven’t tested this extensively but it seems to work fine under Wordpress 2.0. I have no plans of testing it in Wordpress 1.5 so please don’t bother me if it doesn’t work there. After all, it’s easier for all of us to simply upgrade to 2.0.

Just want to inform the general public that I made a few bug fixes to the Transinnova ‘Color Theme’ series so if you downloaded your copy prior to September 7, then it would be best if you update your copy with the new one.

To download the latest copy, just search this site for your theme and download it. The download links always point to the latest versions.

Pleased to introduce my first official Wordpress theme. It’s simple and minimalistic and it comes in black. Feel free to download and use the theme on your own blogs.

Here are some of the basic features of this theme:

• Displays categories as tabs (not necessarily good if you have lots of categories)
• Automatically list your top 10 posts on the sidebar if you have the Customizable Post Listings plug-in installed.
• Checks if you have the Subster Rejuvenation plug-in installed and if so, it makes the necessary adjustments so that the previous / next links at the bottom of your blog would be based on the current category.

So far, these are the features that I can think of and I chose them simply because I need them.
